It is highly important to use a surface sanitizer when working or owning a daycare. This is not only the law in states but it helps promote the prevention of germs. Children of all ages consistently place objects in their mouths therefore injesting germs, they bring in germs from home and outside, and in most daycares children are allowed to attend with colds. It is important that after each activity has been completed that the teacher do a quick spray of a bacterial spray to kill the germs. She/He should also spray and wipe down at the end of each evening using a surface sanitizer. That is a huge must. Along with the daily cleaning it is important to do weekly soaking of the toys to kill germs. Most states mandate this. It only takes a quick second to do a quick walk through and spray. Many companies have made easier spray bottles with better labeling to aid in helping daycare centers. They have eliminated the strong odors as well. Maintaining and keeping up with the cleaning promotes a healthy classroom and less infections from being spread leading to happier children and parents!

When running a daycare center you have to be prepared for plenty of arts and crafts and hands on activities. It is important that the children have a large option to chose from as they are generally there a large portion of their day. Some ideas for making arts and crafts time move smoothly is to have a variety of different activity tables. Some examples of some great ideas for activity tables can be a sand/water/rice table. This table can be used by four children comfortably and can be filled with sand toys for a hands on play time. There can also be an activity table with markers, crayons, and paper for free coloring. Make sure this area is well stocked at all times and has washable markers in order to prevent staining of clothing. Another type of activity table can be modeling clay or playdoh with different cookie cutters. The cookie cutters can be switched depending upon the weekly theme. There are many more different sorts of activity tables that can be purchased or created at the discretion of the teacher. These are just a few suggestions and ideas. While having individual activity tables it allows for a smoother flow of children and it allows all children to get a chance to switch from center to center.

The type of playground equipment that should be kept at a preschool facility is a very important thing. There should be a fenced in area to protect the children and to ensure their safety. The ground of the playground should be either state mandated woodchips or the plush rubberized ground. This is too for safety. When purchasing playground equipment it is important to consider all types of children and their learning abilities. A main staple of an outdoor playground should have some form of a jungle gym or climbing apparatice. This needs to be within the height restrictions of your local state. A good brand to purchase is Step Two. They offer playground equipment with slides, monkey bars, and other items and are made out of durable plastic to ensure a long life span of rough play. Another item that can be useful for an outdoor playground is some different size bikes and or riding equipment. These should include peddling devices, with and without training wheels for different ages and intellectual play. Sidewalk chalk is a great toy and great for imagination. As for other playground equipment a club house that can also be purchased from Step Two or Little Tykes for a cool place to build and maintain friendships and to hide from the hot sun on very warm days. Some other options for playground equipment can be a sand or rice table with some various scoops and diggers. In closing a quick general list of great playground equipment can be; a jungle gym made from durable plastic, a club house, some bikes or push toys, sidewalk chalk, and/or a sand and rice table.

You can instantly add a new room to your house for relaxing and entertaining if you have a porch that has the right furniture. Many porches go unused, but with a few touches you’ll have a perfect place to sit and enjoy the outdoors.
The first thing you’ll need is a table and chair set. Good outdoor table sets are weatherproof and have shade umbrellas and have matching chairs. You may also want to get a separate bench, which can function much like a living room couch. There are rocking and swinging varieties that are great for relaxing on your porch.
You may also consider getting a bar set for your porch. These outdoor bars provide an excellent way to conveniently offer drinks to your friends while you’re entertaining. It’s especially handy if you have a pool near your porch and often throw pool parties.
If you wish you could sit outside but the weather is getting a little chilly, you may also be interested in an outdoor fireplace. These free-standing fireplaces are aesthetically pleasing and offer a wonderful way to warm up your porch while you relax outside.
With just a few additions to your porch, you can add an entire room to your house. No more space going to waste!
